Listening to some peoples stories we have had it relatively easy in London both quickly securing our first jobs and a flat we called home for the past 20 months. We have both had some great career opportunities here, something that we weren't actually looking for but are grateful to have had. As an International hub with people moving in and out it has been one of the easiest places to meet some interesting people and have made some great friends.
It hasn't always been smooth sailing though with no family and few friends when we first started out. At times I felt like I was London's toy Yo-yo. I would start feeling overwhelmed, constantly tired with the hectic lifestyle and feel myself being drawn to something quieter more relaxed, then London would drag me back in enticing me with her flashy shows, hidden food finds, or just an opportunity to try something new.
It is with mixed feelings that we say goodbye to London. Our last day we spent a lot of time looking down on the city from her multitude of viewpoints and still found ourselves lost on her streets. A weird but wonderful mix of crispy duck, runny egg and toasty waffle from the 40th floor of Heron Tower. Enjoying the rush of adrenalin as we looked out over Tower Bridge from the Sky Garden. Watching the British champion Murray on a rooftop screen overlooking St Pauls. Finally relaxing along the Thames on a Clipper ferry back to putney for the last time.
As we land in Portugal I am thankful that although we were forced to leave London (expired working visas sigh) we do so with great memories. As our 'plan' didn't really work out last time we have got a rough idea of where we will be for the first few months then we are just going to go with the flow.
To see what's in store for us over the coming months I will try and keep updating this blog so keep on visiting.
