France
The city of love, rows of grapes in the champagne region and our first work-away, France was full of wonderful, rich cultural and food experiences. We got to know the metro systems in Paris well due to the constant annoying grey weather and spent a fair amount of time checking out their rail network making our way from the border of Spain to the border with Luxembourg. My fourth form French did not come back to me and we struggled to understand the French, although they were all quite patient with us. The pastries are to die for and frogs legs really are not that bad. We seen some interesting choices of art and even fit in watching an all black game. Enjoy reading our time spent in France.
Spain
We only spent a week or so in Spain and absolutely loved it. Tomato fights, paella, the Mediterranean Sea, Flamenco dancing, lots of art and way too much sangria. Trying to remember our little bit of Spanish after a month of Italian was a struggle especially with the different accents and pronunciations of word (i.e. the Spanish lisp sounds). We got to catch up with an old friend and make lots of new friends. Our love affair with Spain was brief but amazing and we will definitely be back here for more.
Italy
Our adventures in Europe begin in Italy, first stop Marostica an hour or so away from Venice. We will be catching up with an old friend who came to NZ for an exchange our last year of high school and staying with her and her family for the first few weeks. After that the plan is to try catch all the normal touristy sights and spend a bit of time at the beach for a few weeks before we settle down and find our first Workaway experience. We are both excited to finally be in the European continent and can't wait for homemade Italian pizza, pasta, and gelatos!!
