Australia
Jake and I knew we always wanted to travel the world but we were hitting a few setbacks in New Zealand in terms of work. To realise our travel dreams we moved across the Tasman in search
of some better opportunities. Lucky for us we both landed some sweet jobs to help boost the travel funds. Jake especially has worked super hard to ensure we can take off for as long as possible before having to come back to reality.
It hasn't been all work though and we have made some great friends, caught a bit of the aussie twang (or Kalia did), met some interesting critters and got to see some spectacular sunrises.

Latin AmericaWhen deciding where we wanted to kick of our trip it was a toss up between South-East Asia and Latin America. We went with the later as we had never been to that side of the world before. The original plan was four months starting in Peru and ending in Brazil for Carnival before returning back to NZ for a wedding then jaunting off to Europe.
As they do, this plan was setback as Jake wanted to work just a bit longer so we postponed our trip six months. It meant no carnival and cutting our trip shorter so we also cut the places we wanted to visit. The three countries we did visit were diverse and exciting and has everything from thrilling activities, amazing scenery, some good street food and friendly people. Peru, Bolivia and Chile left us wanting more and we will definitely be back. We are looking at 2016 so that we can also be here for the Brazil Olympics and then further travels through Latin America. |
Hong Kong
After a quick 24 hour surprise visit to see our parents in shaky Wellington (got them good too- they had no idea) it was time for our next leg to Europe. To get from NZ to Italy you have to stopover somewhere and not wanting to be on a plane for a whole day we thought we would extend the stop. Jake has family in Hong Kong so it seemed like a good choice to hang out for a few days, taste some fresh Asian cuisine, check out the sites of a massive city and do a little bit of shopping.
Europe
After a whirlwind stop in Hong Kong the next continent on our journey is Europe. Since I finished uni I have wanted to follow the hoards of other kiwis and aussies taking advantage of the youth working visa and make the move to London. The time has finally come and before we hit the UK we are planning on spending a bit of time hopping around Europe and visiting some friends along the way. We are not quite ready to head to the cold wet shores of England so will be enjoying the last of the European summer in Italy before venturing out to taste new foods, learn a new language or two and visit a whole heap of ancient stuff. We haven't got much of a plan so we will take it as it comes and see where the wind or cheap train takes us.
